Getting Started
The communications process.
To reign in costs and ensure customer satisfaction, I guide clients through a quick six-step process designed to meet your needs in a clear, efficient and timely manner. While actual processes vary by project type, the generalized design plan below can give you an idea of what to expect after you call for your free, no-obligation consultation.
1. Consultation Phase
- Discuss client needs and general options.
- Review process and schedule.
- Follow-up: review proposal and cost estimate.
- Sign contract if proposal is accepted.
2. Planning Phase
- Make timeline adjustments.
- Clarify who, what, where and when expectations.
3. Concept Phase — Coming up with a Design
- Develop a site map.
- Provide client-supplied content (ie., logos).
- Select from two or three initial designs and review text.
- Provide feedback for customization.
- For writing assignments, a content summary is provided and we advance to the draft or development phase.
4. Draft Phase — Fine-tuning the Design
- Review revised draft. Up to three drafts are common.
- Review final text.
- A customer sign-off signals the beginning of the next phase.
5. Development Phase — Building the Product
- Ready the design for publication (ie, contruct Web sites in HTML).
- Approve final design (with completed text content).
6. Publication Phase — Building the Product
- Client may be asked sign-off on a press proof (for print projects) or a pre-launch viewing (for Web projects).
